The development of children’s personal, social, health and economic education is fundamental in life at Rocks Park and is to equip pupils with a positive self-image, a sound understanding of risk and with the knowledge and skills necessary to make safe and informed decisions. We want pupils to have an understanding of the importance of physical activity and diet for a healthy lifestyle. They have opportunities to develop and learn pastoral and social skills, to try new roles and develop relationships. Underpinning this are our Rocks Park School Values which are an essential part of everyday life at the school.

Through the Rocks Park values we teach children to:

· be caring towards others and the wider community

· be respectful of others and the world around them

· be positive about themselves, their learning and others around them

· be aspirational about their learning and their impact on our community

· be resilient in their learning and in life

· be independent in their learning and in life

Sex Education is incorporated into the wider topic of Health Education. The National Curriculum for Science requires staff to teach children about the main stages of the human life cycle, including reproduction. Health Education will be taught to each year group as part of PSHE. Sex Education is part of the Year 6 curriculum in the summer term. Parents will have the opportunity to discuss the content of the curriculum and any materials used prior to it being shown to the children. Any questions asked by the children during Sex Education will be answered sensitively and at a level appropriate to the individual's maturity. Parents have the right to withdraw their children from all or part of the Sex Education provided, except those parts required to be taught as part of the National Curriculum for Science.
